Improved collection times and online search for postboxes

Swiss Post is investing in the appeal of letter post. With immediate effect, it will be collecting 93 percent of letters from postboxes at 5 p.m. or even later. It is also introducing 148 collections at 7 p.m. (Monday to Friday) and 222 Sunday collections at 5 p.m. So that customers will be able to find their nearest postbox more easily in the future, an interactive location finder is now available on the Internet portal and the Post-App.

Each year, around 400 million letters are posted in postboxes. To further improve customer service and therefore retain the appeal of letters, many frequently-used postboxes now have significantly later collection times. In future, over 93% of letters will be collected from postboxes after 5 p.m. The service is also being improved at off-peak times. Swiss Post now provides postboxes at 469 (previously 321) well-frequented locations throughout Switzerland with collections at 7 p.m. or later. Of the 1,800 or so postboxes with a Sunday collection, 479 will now be emptied after 5 p.m. (222 more than previously). These measures will cost around 8 million francs per year.

Just a few clicks to the nearest postbox

As of now, customers will find it even easier to locate Swiss Post postboxes. Thanks to a map-based location finder on the Internet portal and the Post-App, locating the nearest postbox is very easy. Practical applications such as searching for postboxes by region or by collection time will make the next trip to the postbox even simpler.

The letter market as an important mainstay for Swiss Post

Swiss Post is continuing to focus on letters. In many applications, physical mail has a significantly more powerful impact than electronic alternatives. The fall in volumes of addressed letters levelled off significantly last year. The first half of 2011 is showing an even more positive picture, with the volume of addressed consignments increasing slightly. Swiss Post is convinced that the letter business will remain a core business and thus a fundamental mainstay of the company in the future. Swiss Post will continue to invest in the letter business by further optimizing its services, making its processes as efficient as possible and exploiting new opportunities for growth.
